Life and Deaf
Life and Deaf is a young person's plea to the city to be heard. In 2012 it won the 'RITTER SPORT Film Prize' at the 6th Zebra Poetry Film Festival in Berlin.
Eelyn Lee was commissioned to take poetry written by young deaf people from around the UK as a starting point for a film. Using fragments of verse Eelyn created a set of fictional characters, placing them in a meta world in locations around Greenwich to make this evocative and moving film poem.
Life and Deaf premiered at London's South Bank and has been featured on the BBC's flagship programme, See Hear. The film's online premiere was hosted by I-D Online.
